Anna: A Story About A Crime is my debut novel and it’s a story that I’ve literally spent years working on. It’s one of those things that just happened organically. One night, many years ago, I had an idea for a story. It’s so long ago now that I don’t recall the exact details, but I had a little book. One of my professors always said that writers should carry around small books so they can write down ideas when they surface. My book was brown and turquoise, in a swirly design. Even though I didn’t work out the details of the book at the time, I knew her name was Anna.
It was always about a little girl
Over the years, I kept adding things to my little book where the story of Anna slowly unfolded. The story started focusing on a detective, who was trying to solve the case. The story also started talking about Anna’s mother, a mother who was so distraught that she was ready to do whatever it took to solve her daughter’s disappearance. For a long time, I didn’t know how I wanted the story to end. But almost 10 years after the story started unfolding in my small book, I found out how the story will end. Needless to say – if you’re reading my other book descriptions, the story of Anna continues in various prequels.
A young girl disappears and her mother is desperate for help. All she wants is her daughter home again, but when her body is found, the local detective is convinced her mother had something to do with the murder. With a young detective in tow, the detective has to find out who killed Anna while balancing his own demons. This novel, told from different perspectives, will leave you guessing; who killed Anna?
